Students living in Appalachian State residence halls passed the option III for the third year in a row.  Option III allows a 24-hour visitation policy.

It was approved with a 91.36 percent majority.

Only 0.12 percent voted for Option I, which offered visitation from noon until midnight, Sunday through Thursday.  One-sixty-eighth of the student population voted in favor of Option II, which allowed visitation hours from noon to 2 a.m. Sunday through Saturday.

The first year the vote was reinstated after a yearlong hiatus, it brought out 95 percent of the students living on-campus.

The second year it was implemented, 92.05 of the students turned out.  This year, the numbers rose slightly  when 92.16 percent voted.

Four years ago, students did not vote, with an open visitation policy in effect for all with the exception of Belk, Frank and Lovill halls.

Appalachian Heights, Coffey, East, Doughton, Newland and Winkler residence halls did not have to vote because their population is primarily upperclassmen.
