Expand your mind through philosophy

What are some traditional values and beliefs that we see today?

Who holds these values? and Should we question our beliefs?

America has founding fathers from all countries.  This explains why Americans have individual views and our mass values are so different from other countries single values.

I’ve heard many people explain our area’s problems and blaim it all on the fact that Appalachian is in the Bible Belt.  People have strong views about homosexuals in this area because they are not exposed to them.

If they lived in San Fransisco, the gay capitol of the US, they would probably have a different view, if not bothered by it.

My point is that when our founding cultures brought their ideas to America to begin a new country, they all congregated in certain areas around the US.

We all join others like us, but then there are the stragglers that began to migrate to live in areas with others unlike them.

And these numbers just accumilated throughout the generations.  This explains why most Americans are so open-minded.

Now that idea has been explained, I can now approach my topic.

Gender roles in society, religious beliefs and preferred sexualities are a few issues frequently discussed today.

Our generation has the knowledge and experience of past generations to make more sound judgements.

In the early 19th century, men were seen as the sole income and women took care of the munchkins.  Men were macho and women were dependant.  That is the way it was.

We can all see that now it is different.  Women hold the same jobs as men and some fathers stay home with the kids.  But the characteristics of men and women will never change.

Men are visually stimulated and work with thier hands.  Women are more passionate and emotional.

Now that Homosexuality is generally accepted by most the population, it would be “biased” for anyone to make a judgement with out really attempting to understand.

Our American Society today is forced to be more objective and unbiased because it is almost a trend now to be a nonconformist.  Some people may become homosexuals because it is the “in” thing to do.

And some people may decide they are gay when they begin to sexually mature in thier teens.

There are many explainations why someone is gay.  But all this is related to gender roles in society today. Many new movies out today such as “Wild Things” and “Cruel Intentions” portray women showing affection towards one another but not in a homosexual way.

It was either for the entertainment of a man (or men) or like in “Cruel Intentions,” where the reason was to instruct another woman how to kiss a man.

I will admit watching that scene in “Cruel Intentions” was beautiful.  Women are beautiful.  It was almost like women took thier moment to show our nature:  passionate, affectionate and beautiful.

But the entertainment business will probably never show direct homosexual contact between men because that is not thier nature.

They can always convey the idea that two men had intercourse before the actual scene showed that they were laying in bed or maybe discussing the act.

There are so many issues in society we can discuss and put into perspective for one another.

That is why we are given that intuition to think on our own and talk about our thoughts with others.

What would we do without others like us and others unlike us?

We, as humans, feed off one another to enhance our thoughts of the world we must live in.  Why not use that gift of intuition and think.  It’s good for you.

Apply yourself and you will be suprised where your mind can take you.
