Two female writers, poet Ann Neelon and fiction writer Erin McGraw will discuss and read from their works April 23 at 7:30 p.m.
Their reading is part of the Visiting Writers Series and the Humanities Program. It will be held in the Calloway Peak Room of the Plemmons Student Union.

Helicon Cable New Office Hours
Helicon Cable Communications is pleased to announce their new office hours at the main office located at 220 Postal Street in Boone. The new hours include extended weekday and new office Saturday lobby hours.
On Tuesday and Thursday, evenings hours have been extended to 7 p.m. New Saturday hours are scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon.

Trumpeter John Almeida and pianist Scott Watkins will present a guest recital April 27 at the School of Music. The free concert begins at 8 p.m. in the Rosen Concert Hall.

The 6th annual benefit concert, Thaw Out, will be held April 25 on State Farm Field for OASIS, the Boone Police Department Special Olympic Program and MADD.
Sigma Phi Epsilon and Kappa Sigma are its hosts. T-shirts, courtesy of the graphic arts department, will be sold for fundraisers.
Tickets and t-shirts are on sale now in the Plemmons Student Union outside Cascades Cafe.
Ramona Africa, an activist with the MOVE organization, will speak on human rights issues April 27 at 8 p.m. in Farthing Auditorium.
The lecture is free, but donations will be accepted.
Africa will discuss human, civil, women’s and animal’s rights, the environment, corruption and the repeated police brutality MOVE members allegedly suffered including the 1978 bombing and raiding of the organization’s Philadelphia headquarters.
