Mu Omicron chapter of Zeta Phi Beta sorority will auction off dates to raise money Monday, April 6, in I.G. Greer Auditorium at 8 p.m.
Members of ASU clubs and organizations will be on the auction block. The dates are dinner-for-two at various restaurants in the Boone and Blowing Rock areas.
Admission is $2 at the door for all bidders and $1 for
those who would just like to watch the fun.
Lebanon: The Rebirth of a Country
The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and the Office of International Programs presents a lecture on post-war Lebanon Monday, March 30, in the Grandfather Mountain Ballroom in the Plemmons Student Union at 7 p.m.
Presented by Dr. Maksoud Feghali, the presentation focuses on post-war Lebanon and the socio-political, economical and educational changes.
Slides and documentary videos will be shown, Lebanese
artifacts will be on display, and refreshments will be served.
“Educating Equally: Affirmative Action and Beyond” is a two-part series developed in conjunction with the President’s Initiative on Race.
On April 2, a panel discussion will focus on Appalachian’s approach to affirmative action and strategies for the future.
Nationally known civil rights activist Tim Wise will respond to the negative publicity surrounding the affirmative action debate in a speech April 14.

A scholarship is being established that will honor a 40-year veteran of the retail music business industry.
The C.H. Duncan Scholarship honors Duncan, the founder of Duncan Music Company, for his lifetime support of music teachers and students. Duncan is a member of the School of Music Advisory board and was named honorary alumnus of ASU in 1983.
When fully funded, the endowment will award a $500 scholarship
to a student majoring in music and who demonstrates a high level of performance
ability.
Sigma Nu and Hampton Inn of Boone in cooperation with Watauga Co. Habitat for Humanity present Hoops for Habitat.
The three-on-three tournament is March 28-29 in Varsity/Broome-Kirk Gym.
