Our Perspective... By now, Appalachian students are flowing back into the university from their summer jobs, vacations or classes. Classes start Tuesday and with them, a new year that will no doubt see many changes and challenges for everyone here. Last fall, the question on everyone’s mind was “what will Appalachian be like without Borkowski?” now the question is, “what will Appalachian be like with Peacock?” Reasons not to skip town Welcome back, students. We find ourselves at the end of yet another summer. Some of us worked. Some of us traveled and vacationed. Some of us sat at home and watched television or played video games. No matter what you did this summer, I’ll wager that
most of you are not so eager to return to class. Tips for academic success Freshmen, I am sure that before you left home, a lot of different people gave you a lot of advice on what and what not to do when at college. You are probably tired of hearing advice, and you probably think you know enough having a good idea on what to expect. Last thing you want to hear is more advice. Well, I am going to give you more advice anyway. Some of what I am about to say is what you probably heard before, but being in college for so long, here are about five things that I know that will help out.
