Library project works overtime to complete
Library & Information Commons looks to May 2005
completion
By Justin Boulmay
Senior Staff Writer
Progress continues to be made on the Library & Information
Commons at Appalachian State University, which will house more space,
features and services than Belk Library.
“We’re 45 percent through with the entire project,” Project
Manager Patrick A. Beville said Aug. 5. “That includes the parking
garage [to be built next to the library & information commons]. That’s
weighted, because the library’s so much bigger than the parking
garage in terms of monetary values.”
The roof was 50 percent done and the masonry was 75 percent
done, Beville said.
“We’re probably 90 percent finished with
the electrical conduit installation on the inside, [and] 75 percent finished
with the mechanical installation, which is all the duct work and the DOD
boxes, and things of that nature,” he said.
