I’ll be honest: Sometimes I really hate my job. Don’t get me wrong, I love being able to pitch in my two cents every week about whatever music happens to find its way across my desk, but sometimes there are those albums that just fall flat in every sense.

For a little bit of background, the hardworking folks over at 90.5 WASU gave me a few CDs for review, which is how I came to find out about the band Thistle.

Excursion comes to end in final tour By Bill Cutler

Ending a nine-year run, Weekend Excursion returns to Legends Thursday for the last time, playing to the crowd that was first introduced to lead singer Sam Fisher.

Recently the band announced that it would be calling it quits after finishing its current tour, leaving a few fans disgruntled.

“When we announced our breakup on the [Web site], we got a lot of e-mails saying that it was unfair the tour was ending in Florida and not here,” Fisher said.

Meet a saint when the Department of Theatre and Dance presents “A Man for All Seasons” in Valborg Theatre tomorrow through Sunday.

“It’s a play with a beautifully written script about a man who was later sainted by the church for his stand against Henry VIII,” Director and Chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance Dr. Susan Cole said.

Olospo promotes new album Wednesday at Murphy's Pub by Dusty Teng

Since its creation in 1999, Olospo has quickly become recognized as one of the most talented independent bands to come out of the Lone Star state.

The Dallas-based group originated when keyboardist Barrett Morris, bassist Nick Ramirez and drummer Tom Bridwell met guitarist Chris Holt, who was playing in another band.
