Despite tough season, ASU remains optimistic about SoCon tourney

Nothing has come easily for the Appalachian State University men’s basketball team this season.

But in the midst of an eight-game losing streak and a 9-17 campaign, the team believes they are on the brink of turning their season around with a win Tuesday night against the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, 82-60.

Only three games remain in the regular season before tournament play starts.

Club alpine ski team looks to build on successful season, qualify for nationals

The Appalachian State University club alpine ski team looks to add to a solid season and qualify for nationals as they travel to Blue Mountain, Pa. this weekend for regionals.

“We have a pretty good chance,” team president Susan Crissman said.

Fouled up foul shots culprit in ASU loss

It is not getting easier for the Appalachian State University women’s basketball team.

After dropping their last two games in Boone despite leading for most of the game, the team hung with University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (22-2, 17-0) all game before being undone by foul shots.

The win was the Mocs’ 20th in a row, the best in the nation. The win also clinched the regular season title for the Mocs and locks-up the number one seed for the upcoming conference tournament.

Men’s Tennis defeats Liberty:
The Appalachian State University men’s tennis team got their first win this season, taking down Liberty University 5-2 on Saturday.

Dimitar Dimitrov, Ben Shuster, Alex Probst and Jason Nius record singles victories. In doubles action, Shuster and Probst recorded a victory, as did the team of Jacob Stapleton and Nius.

ASU (1-2) will next be in action this Saturday as they go on the road once again to take on Gardner-Webb.
