The Polar Plunge, sponsored in part by the University
Police, took place Thursday at Duck Pond. The event featured
students, faculty, staff and others from the area jumping into
the ice-cold water to benefit the Special Olympics of Watauga
County. Army R.O.T.C. cadets swam across the pond. Others dressed
in different outfits and jumped right in.
