Guns N Roses, the California-based band
that brought the decadence of Los Angeless Skid Row to the
suburban living rooms of America, was well-known for its raucous
concerts before the bands unfortunate break-up in the mid-1990s.
Missed seeing Guns N Roses before it split? Dont despair.
Come see Appetite for Destruction and fill that craving.
Presented by the Appalachian Popular Programming Society (A.P.P.S.),
Appetite for Destruction, a Guns N Roses (GNR) tribute act,
will be performing on Saturday at Legends.
Unlike a cover band, this is a tribute act, which plays nothing
but songs by the specific artist(s)so get ready to get a big
dose of GNR.
Appetite for Destruction will reproduce a Guns N Roses
concert like you could have seen in the 80s; they will even
be dressing up like the original band and taking on their stage
language and mannerisms, said Peter Van Schoick, chairperson
of the A.P.P.S. Stage Shows Council.
Appetite for Destruction has been all over North Carolina, where
the members reside when they are not touring, playing in places
like Wilmington and Raleigh.
Stage Shows has been working to put this show on since Sept. 23.
In order to secure this show, a booking agent called the council
and asked if they wanted to bring Appetite for Destruction (AFD)
to Appalachian State University.
After the call, the council voted, deciding if this concert would
meet the students demands, and decided that this specific
show would fill a need to produce a show that students would not
be able to see otherwise.
This will not be one of our biggest shows this year, yet it
will be fun and fills a need for those pockets of students that
would love to see a Guns N Roses tribute act, Van Schoick
said about the decision to bring AFD to campus.
Stage Shows feels the expense of the show is justified by the demand
the performing act has.
A.P.P.S. hopes the show will sell out.
Come out and see Appetite for Destruction; it is a chance
to see the Guns N Roses concert your parents always talked
about, said Van Schoick.
Tickets went on sale Tuesday and will continue to be sold at the
Plemmons Student Union Information Desk until this afternoon.
Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 at the door.
Get there early because tickets at the door will sell like
hotcakes, said Van Schoick.
The doors at Legends will open at 9 p.m. and the two-hour show will
start around 10:15 p.m.
The show is B.Y.O.B, with a limit of a six-pack per person
with proper identification, which will encourage people to go, but
it will be a safe concert, said Van Schoick. |
