For those enduring a stressful week and needing something to do this weekend, laughter may be just the ticket.
The Appalachian Popular Programming Society (A.P.P.S.) is hosting a comedy show called the Comedy Jam, complete with an after party Saturday at Legends.
The Comedy Jam will feature two comedians from the RJE Urban Comedy Cabaret Tour: Lav Luv and J.J.
“Both comedians appeared on BET Comedy review and HBO, so come out because it will be a night of fun, relaxation and laughter,” said Justin A. Lowery, chairperson for the Council for Cultural Awareness, a council within A.P.P.S.
Preparation for the show began in August. C.C.A. worked through an Atlanta, Ga., booking agency to find performers for the Comedy Jam.
Comedians Lav Luv and J.J. were chosen based on tapes of past comedy performances.
Both comedians also presented an interest in performing on a college campus.
C.C.A. faced budget constraints and the busy schedules of the comedians when planning the Comedy Jam.
That labor will pay off this Saturday.
Doors open at 9 p.m. and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. Afterwards students can dance to the music of a DJ and meet the comedians until 12:45 a.m.
Tickets for the show will be sold at the Plemmons Student Union information desk for $6 in advance and at Legends for $8.
“If you wait that long you might want to show up around 8:45 or 9 p.m. just to be safe,” said Lowery.
