The past few weeks have seen a lot of new faces on the Appalachian
State University campus.
From campers leisurely enjoying their summer vacations to
the out-of-towners here for An Appalachian Summer Festival,
the campus has been busy.
Perhaps the largest group of new faces is the incoming freshman
class participating in Phase One Orientation.
For the most part, the newest additions to the Appalachian
family are recent high school graduates eager to get out
on their own for the first time.
They come to the two-day sessions ready to make new friends
and escape the shadows of their parents for a few hours.
During Orientation, they are escorted around campus by fellow
students, attend informational meetings and get their class
schedule for the fall semester.
Through all the excitement, the Orientation staff shares
the basics of living on campus, going to class and the college
lifestyle in general.
The Appalachian recently talked to some of the incoming
freshmen to see how Orientation was going.
