To The Editor:
I was highly offended by “Delury: jam bands, bluegrass not only social life options in Boone” by Kevin DeLury, published in the Special Orientation Issue. This article attacks several of the main reasons that people come to Boone.
As an outgoing graduate student, I came to Boone for several reasons; however as I am about to leave this wonderful town the music scene is one thing I will miss the most.
Kevin, you must understand that you are very narrow-minded. People have varying tastes in music and may enjoy jam bands, open-mic nights (no matter how terrible they are), and other forms of music you dislike.
Just because you are a jaded upperclassman does not give you the authority to attack the nightlife of Boone and the various scenes offered by different businesses. Not everyone is like you or enjoys the music you do.
I understand that this is an editorial piece, however it is still offensive and will convey a negative image of the Boone to many impressionable freshmen.
