Parking restrictions to change in summer

According to Parking and Traffic, Stadium parking lot will only be open to faculty, staff, graduate assistants and a limited number of students.
   With Whitener parking lot closing after graduation ceremonies this month, a reallocation of parking lot access levels is inevitable.
   Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs Jane P. Helm said Monday the most noticeable change in parking next year will be for Raley and Stadium lots.
    Graduate assistants, faculty and staff currently use Raley lot, while seniors and graduate students park in Stadium lot.
Direct deposits to speed financial aid delivery

   The Office of Student Accounts is offering a quicker and more efficient way for students to receive financial aid refunds.
   The direct deposit program was developed by the Office of Student Accounts as a way to decrease the number of business days required to issue financial aid refund checks to students.
At year’s end, SGA sports trend of absences David Forbes

   Over the spring semester, the Student Government Association faced a trend of rising absences, which ended in the organization having trouble reaching quorum, according to data gathered SGA minutes.
   This trend culminated in the April 15 SGA senate meeting, when 20 senators were absent and the senate barely had enough members to vote on the four pieces of legislation facing the body that evening.
Herosian to lead WASU through next year Katrina Walker

   Vice Chancellor for Student Development Gregory S. Blimling selected senior Ross A. Herosian as WASU’s Station Manager for the 2003-04 academic year.
   Herosian is a broadcast communications major with a minor in business.
Oppression, privilege discussed at forum Justin Boulmay

   Appalachian State University students and faculty gathered in the Multicultural Center of W.H. Plemmons Student Union Monday evening for a forum titled “Examining Oppression and Privilege.”
   Dr. Suzette Speight, an associate professor at the University of Loyola in Chicago, led the forum.
Fencing Club successful with several wins at recent state tourneys Jessica Sellers

   The Appalachian State University Fencing Club had a very successful month of March, earning several wins at two North Carolina fencing tournaments.
   The club won in both team and individual events, with several members scoring high enough to go on to the national tournament.
