Our Perspective... Comfort for progress
The state’s budget isn’t looking very favorable for Appalachian State University for the third straight year as construction project sites and detours seem to dwarf campus buildings and walkways.
Tuition increases are inevitable as the legislature must now decide how much of Governor Easley’s plan to keep and how much to scrap.
Despite continuing budget woes, Appalachian is adding to and renovating its campus more than ever. Millions upon millions of dollars are being spent to provide future Mountaineers with state-of-the-art facilities.

   Sports are funny.
Sports twist your arm and tug at your heart and are capable of bringing feelings of unbelievable joy and unbelievable heartache.
Every time my favorite teams blow a big or easy game or just plain don’t play to their potential, it makes me wonder why I am so invested in a stupid sports team because that’s all it really is isn’t it?
    A stupid sports team.
For those not involved in sports, cheering hardcore for a certain team every game for years is an emotional investment.
End of the world getting near? No, not at all

My friend, we are obviously living in the end times. Rome has fallen, barbarians are sacking and burning everything. Surely the end of the world can’t be far.
Truly I tell you, this must be the end of the world. The Black Plague has swept over the land, killing thousands of people. Surely it is a punishment for our sin, a fulfillment of biblical prophecy.
Look, didn’t the Bible speak about false prophets and horrific wars in the last days? Hitler has to be the antichrist, and the world’s never seen a war like this one before. It’s right there in the Bible. The end of the world is nigh.
