Jimmy’s Java to host bluegrass band Michael Lee

   David Via and Corn Tornado are blowing into Jimmy’s Java Sunday with a whirlwind of bluegrass-newgrass music behind them.
   The foursome features Via (pronounced Vy) on the mandolin, Daniel Knicely on guitar, Dave Van Deventer on fiddle and John Flower on the doghouse bass.
   Their incredible blend of acoustic blues, jazz, funk and bluegrass is carried by the experience-driven songwriting of Via.
‘Kranked Five’ film premieres Saturday Grayson Mendenhall

   Breakneck speeds, gravity-defying jumps and bike trails sure to weed out rookies are just some of the things to be seen in “Kranked Five,” a mountain biking film directed by Bjorn Enga and produced by Radical Films.
   “The excitement is building, the edits are tight and the riding is phenomenal,” Enga said Tuesday.
   “Kranked Five” will be premiering in Boone Saturday, April 19 at Black Cat Burrito.
Jazz Orchestra returns to ASU Stephanie Marshall

   Returning for a second performance, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra is honoring Boone by making it their only tour stop in North Carolina.
   Presented by the Office of Cultural Affairs (OCA) and sponsored by SkyBest Communications, the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra will be performing tonight in Farthing Auditorium as part of the Appalachian Jazz Festival.
