Our Perspective... D.C. campus will be missed, a necessity
      A 25-year tradition will end this November with the loss of the Appalachian House in Washington, D.C.
   The AppHouse has provided low rent and a sense of community for countless numbers of Appalachian State University students, faculty, staff and alumni.
   The little piece of Boone directly behind the Library of Congress enables those who enjoy an Appalachian education to increase their knowledge and skills by taking advantage of the opportunities abounding in Washington, D.C.

    “Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast will go back to being called French Fries and French Toast when an oil field is found outside Paris.”-Conan O’Brien, March 28.
   Once again, to no one’s surprise or excitement, I am disgusted. Over the past weeks, anti-French sentiment has crept up into every facet of my life, furthering my frustration toward the logic and ethics of our country.

    A cold, as defined by the American Heritage Collegiate dictionary, is a viral infection characterized by inflammation of the mucous membranes lining the upper respiratory passages and usually accompanied by fever, chills, coughing and sneezing.
   Why isn’t there a cure for the common cold? According to an article on MSNBC.com, it is because it is hard to tell what actually causes a cold. About 40 percent of colds are caused by something called rhinoviruses, and the other 60 percent are caused by other viruses.
