Students can try their hand at Las Vegas-style games without losing money at Alpha Delta Pi and Kappa Alpha’s annual Casino Night April 4 in the Blue Ridge Ballroom of W.H. Plemmons Student Union.
Casino Night will house games like craps, roulette, blackjack and more. There will be door prizes and prizes won through games such as a Play Station 2, a DVD player, televisions, a tanning package, a massage certificate and a golf weekend.
Junior recreational management major Heather M. Hefner is the philanthropy chair for Alpha Delta Pi. She said all proceeds are going to Alpha Delta Pi’s philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House in Winston Salem, and to Kappa Alpha’s philanthropy, the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Last year this event brought in over $3,000.
“We would like to make even more than we did last year,” Hefner said. “Hopefully we will bring in around $4,000. That would be great.”
Alpha Delta Pi will have a table set up in the student union to buy tickets starting Monday through Thursday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 p.m. until 2 p.m.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. You will be able to exchange your ticket at the door for $2,000 in play money. If you run out of money, however, you can buy more play money for an additional $5.

Alpha Phi sorority began their annual Teddy Attack this week. Teddy Attack stands for Alpha Phi’s Turn Towards Achieving Community Kindness. This is the sorority’s chance to contribute to their philanthropy by committing a full week to service projects in the community.
Jessica L. Umstead, a junior marketing major and Alpha Phi’s philanthropy chair, coordinated this broad range of events for the entire week.
The events range from walking dogs for the Humane Society, baking cookies for the police stations and fire stations, working at the local soup kitchen and cleaning their adopted highway.
“Boone gives us so much, and we want to give back to the community,” Claire S. Hart, junior hospitality and tourism management major, said Tuesday.
Throughout the week Alpha Phi is sponsoring Putt-for-a-Buck. This event will be held all week long during the lunch hours outside Welborn Hall. For a dollar, participants have one chance to make a hole-in-one and win a small prize.
All money raised during Putt-for-a-Buck is going to Alpha Phi’s philanthropy, Cardiac Care.
“This is a week we all really look forward to,” Hart said. “All we want to do is raise money for our philanthropy. We are very excited about helping out.”
