   The Appalachian State University women’s basketball team fell to visiting University of North Carolina at Greensboro Saturday 85-78.
   Seniors Jaymi Wilson and Tiffani Johnson were honored prior to the game, but both have seen better performances in their careers at Appalachian State.
   On a day for the veteran Mountaineers, sophomores Lindsey Smith and Jessica Jank provided career games.
   Smith netted 27 points in the losing effort to lead all scorers, while Jank tallied a double-double, netting 16 and pulling down 10 rebounds.
ETSU Bucs defeat ASU causing three-way tie Josh Dernosek

    East Tennessee State University forced a three-way tie on top of the Southern Conference North Division with a win over Appalachian State University Saturday 88-78.
   The Bucs were led by Tim Smith with 25 points and Jerald Fields with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Mountaineers finish third in weekend tourney Brad Norman

   Despite playing two people short, the Appalachian State University club volleyball team gutted out an impressive third place finish in their most recent tournament.
   The tournament was held in Knoxville, Tenn., Feb. 22 and had nine teams from six different schools.

    Despite being one of only two club teams swimming in a meet at Radford University, the Appalachian State University club swimming team finished seventh place out of 13, ahead of six varsity teams and just barely behind another. Teams from around the country participated in the swim meet, with Georgia Institute of Technology fielding the only other club team.
   Perhaps the most well known school, University of Notre Dame, eked out sixth place over Appalachian by a mere four points.

    After spending five seasons at Belmont-Abbey, Paul Stahlschmidt is back in Boone as the men’s head soccer coach.
   Stahlschmidt is the ninth head coach in the Appalachian State University men’s soccer program history. Stahls-chmidt played soccer and track and field for the Mountaineers until his graduation in 1994 when he became the assistant women’s coach from 1994-1996.
