   The Appalachian State University men’s basketball team rebounded from a tough home loss Saturday afternoon in Boone to defeat the University of North Carolina at Greensboro down the mountain Monday night 71-68.
    With the victory, Appalachian State stays in first place in the Southern Conference North Division with an overall record of 18-8 and an 11-4 mark in league play. UNCG slips to 7-19 on the season and 3-12 in the SoCon.
   With 1:46 remaining in regulation play, Appalachian State’s Johnathan Mitchell converted a lay-up to break a standstill at 66. After Graham Bunn knocked down a couple of free throws, the Mountaineers sat on a four-point lead with just over a minute left.

   Western Carolina University women’s basketball cruised past Appalachian State 73-65 in a special noontime Education Day game at the Ramsey Center Tuesday in Cullowhee.
   The win gives Western its 20th of the season, now at 20-6, and a 13-4 record in the Southern Conference. ASU falls to 9-17 overall and 8-9 in the league.
Appalachian beats UNC-Charlotte in sudden death overtime Brad Norman

    In the first club soccer game of the season, Appalachian State University held off a charge by undermanned University of North Carolina at Charlotte, defeating them 4-3 in sudden death overtime at Kidd Brewer Stadium Saturday.
   The team was also scheduled to play Davidson College later in the afternoon but was awarded a forfeit victory instead.

     The Appalachian State University club hockey team, winless during the entire fall semester, needed to at least tie Clemson University once and beat them once during their doubleheader last weekend.
