Davidson was at the helm the entire game, extending the lead to 22 points with 13 minutes to go in the second half. Appalachian’s hopes of winning were looking out of reach.

A feisty Appalachian State University women’s basketball defensive scheme held the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga’s leading scorer Jennifer Wilson to only four points, out of 2-of-7 shooting, but could not find a way to contain Tiffani Roberson.
Roberson shot over 68 percent from the floor and came off the bench to score 25 points in 27 minutes, leading the Mocs to a 87-73 victory over Appalachian at the George M. Holmes Convocation Center Saturday. Roberson, whose previous career high was 17 points, also collected nine rebounds.
Eight of Roberson’s points came off of offensive rebounds, as Roberson’s big frame and physical play could not be contained by a Mountaineer squad containing an abundance of guards.

The storybook ending to the Appalachian State University men’s basketball season would have been a victory over Davidson College within the friendly confines of the George M. Holmes Convocation Center.
Appalachian may not have gotten their storybook ending, but they certainly had a storybook season at home.
