Athletic proposal not currently idealistic
The Football Opportunities Committee’s proposal to expand varsity athletics facilities is finally making its way to the Board of Trustees (BOT) Friday with the suggestion to cap general student fees. The Appalachian reported last week both the faculty and student senates oppose the proposal. Capping these fees will mean the loss of a 5 percent increase to areas under general fees. This 5 percent will instead fund the expansion of Owens Field House, new entrance gates for Kidd Brewer Stadium, resurfacing the stadium field and renovating Varsity Gymnasium.
Accepting diversity could improve climate

Some of my fellow students may have taken the student survey on diversity advertised last month on AppalNET.
Diversity? What a quaint notion for Appalachian State University.
Driving through High Point on the way up to Boone from Raleigh, where I live during breaks and vacations, I notice welcome signs to the town are displayed in several different languages. Not so with the John E. Thomas Building.
Should producers draw the line for violence?

“24” is, in my opinion, one of the best shows on television.
When it rolls around 9 p.m. on Tuesday nights, my away message is up, and my answering machine is on. I usually shut my door as well, depending on the volume level of rap music being played on my floor.
