   Despite state budget woes a tuition increase freeze for Appalachian State University may become a reality.
   In January, the University of North Carolina system Board of Governors (BOG) proposed a freeze on tuition increases for the 2003-2004 academic year.
SGA seeks to increase student input on fees

    The Student Government Association (SGA) will seek to change the process for student input on tuition and fees at Appalachian State University in the coming semester.
   “There are campuses in the [University of North Carolina] system that search out a higher level of student input than Appalachian,” SGA President Ryan M. Eller said Thursday. “That’s very disappointing to me. Ever since I’ve been here at Appalachian, we’ve talked about how much we value student opinion and student leadership.”

   As America contemplates another war, one graduate student is attempting to piece together Appalachian State University’s legacy in previous wars.
   “We are trying to find all Appalachian State University faculty, staff, alumni or students who have died while in service,” history education master’s candidate Cory J. Stewart said Friday.
Police investigate recent harassment calls

   Harassing phone calls have become a concern for the Appalachian State University Police Department.
   “We have had a lot of reports of harassing phone calls,” said Maj. Larry Foster of the University Police. “Most of the time the calls consist of silence or either someone just hanging up.”

   For those who have a fear of skiing, Project Ice, the annual Black Student Association’s (BSA) ski weekend coming up this Friday, offers an opportunity to conquer that fear.
   “The BSA started it as a means of encouraging students of color to take advantage of the opportunity to get out on the slopes at least once a year,” said Tracy L. Wright, assistant director for the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CSIL).
