Our Perspective . . . Graffiti rules in place to protect students
Students at Appalachian State University are talented.
Without question they excel in our efforts at creative expression, whether it is writing, photography, theater, dance, art or even graffiti.
And although freedom of form and expression is laudable and should be taught, this freedom should be exercised in an appropriate and safety-conscious manner.
Namely, this rule applies to graffiti done on campus.
A new policy written by the university and posted on AppalNET last week deemed the interior of the tunnels beneath Rivers Street the only appropriate place for graffiti on campus.

What do the experts really know?
Throughout our existence, kids are raised to listen to people who know more than they do. These are things such as respect your elders and your older sister is in charge while mom is at the store.
As we begin to get older, we go through adolescence and start to think for ourselves and begin to challenge the things we have come to know as truth.
Super Bowl forecast: Bucs to defeat Oakland

I am debating as to a nickname for this Super Bowl, Super Bowl XXXVI to be exact.
Could call it Chucky Bowl, because of Tampa Bay Coach Jon Gruden’s resemblance to a certain classic film star, as well as the fact he coached Oakland, the AFC Champions, last year.
The All-Mouth Super Bowl would also fit. On one side, we have Warren Sapp, who’s in his own league when it comes to interviews. Tampa Bay also has Keyshawn Johnson, who is anything but old school when it comes to demeanor.
